Assembly Technician II

RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Interpret mechanical drawings and work instructions to perform fabrication of electro-mechanical assemblies, military-grade cable assemblies and wiring harnesses
    • Document proper paperwork and record in ERP system
    • Select and use appropriate tools/techniques to perform soldering and crimping of electrical components
    • Fabricate internal and external electrical wiring harnesses to a defined quality standard
    • Mechanically assemble entire modular components to a defined quality standard
    • Demonstrate ability to learn new manufacturing techniques and processes
    • Clearly communicate manufacturing impediments to direct supervisor
    • Testing of some assembled products
    • Maintain expertise in troubleshooting techniques
    • Demonstrate intermediate technical knowledge of electro-mechanical assembly processes while building to a defined manufacturing quality and labor standard
    • Provide some On-the-Job Training (OJT) and assistance to lesser-skilled technicians
    • Setup and adjust equipment and systems in support of mission related tasks
    • Perform technical support at customer location as needed
    • Demonstrate proficiency in lean manufacturing techniques
    • Performs other duties as assigned
REQUIRED SKILLS:
    • Enhanced fabrication knowledge of complex, military grade cable assemblies (i.e. shielding termination techniques, multi-legged breakouts, cable form boards)
    • Intermediate experience with reading mechanical prints and wiring diagrams
    • IPC J-STD-001 certification strongly preferred (current or expired)
    • Soldering and crimping experience
    • Complete familiarity with IPC/WHMA-A-620 to include but not limited to: a. Mil-Spec connectors (both solder and crimp), b. Solder cup terminations, c. Solder Sleeves
    • Familiarity with IPC-A-610 to include but not limited to: a. o SMT and Through-hole component terminations, b.o Wire-to-board terminations (i.e. through-hole, turret, post)
    • Capability to work under magnification
    • Experience with epoxy/adhesives
    • Experience with torqueing hardware
    • Physical requirements outlined below

EDUCATION/KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:
    • Requires a high school diploma or equivalent
    • Apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialty strongly preferred
    • 4+ years of combined experience in the Required Skills section
    • Some computer proficiency required
