Production Manager

SUMMARY:

Works side by side with Production Technicians and provides technical guidance and/or work direction. Establishes and coordinates production workflow. Ensures the flow of materials, parts and assemblies between or within departments. Documents production activities. Ability to obtain Security Clearance at Secret level required.


RESPONSIBILITIES/SKILLS:
    • Creates, implements, enforces, and maintains operational, personnel, and quality policies and procedures in the production area.
    • Provides feedback during design phase of new products to assist in design for cost-effective manufacturing and to apply lessons-learned from existing product experience.
    • Develops and designs workplace layout through the use of lean manufacturing techniques, tooling, fixtures and work cells.
    • Measures variances to quality and labor standards, identifies out-of-control variances, investigates reasons, suggests solutions, installs, and follow-up.
    • Keeps abreast of the trend of technology, investigates, installs most effective methods of manufacturing to keep company at competitive edge at all times.
    • Keeps tally of the method changes reducing cost of production and strives for budgeted goal.
    • Installs labor standards, measures performance against labor standards.
    • Develops management information systems for planning and control purposes.
    • Ensures production documentation is complete and accurate.
    • Manages technicians, including ensuring production schedules are met, setting critical goals, conducting midyear and year end performance reviews, coaching, and training.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION:
    • Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred.
    • 5+ years of operations supervisory/management experience, 
    • Some college and 7 years of experience in the field may substitute.
    • Experience with mechanical assembly, electrical assembly, wiring/cable assembly, and IPC-610/620 practices required.
    • Successful leadership and management of mid-size teams required.
    • Experience with World Class Manufacturing or 6 Sigma experience highly preferred.
    • Experience with AS9100 and internal compliance and auditing highly preferred.
    • ERP user experience highly preferred.
    • Experienced using lean work cell approach desired.
    • Must be above average in reading and interpreting electro-mechanical drawings.
    • Ability to obtain security clearance at secret level required.

SALARY: $78,297 - $109,616/year DOE
